Strawberry poison-dart frog | A bright red frog wearing blue denim trousers
Frogs are one of the most amazing groups of animals in Nature and they are even considered lucky or fertility symbols. Costa Rica is a frog paradise and I usually try to take some photos of these amphibians when I visit its National Parks. This tiny blue jeans frog, Oophaga pumilio, particularly shows an extreme variation in colour and pattern between populations and this individual caught my eye because of the blue colour of its arms and legs. I was especially fortunate with this particular specimen as it was a very photogenic actor: its body language was perfect and it displayed all its skills posing for the camera. I myself tried to do my best by darkening the shadows and emphasizing the subject with a spot-light.
