Alone in the Sand
Grey Seal Pup | A charismatic and tender British mammal
The Grey Seal is one of the most charismatic of British mammals. Many cubs are born each year at breeding grounds on the coast of Lincolnshire. The female only gives birth to one cub which is suckled during the first 3 weeks of life. After 15 days they loose their soft white fur and are abandoned by their mothers, who mate again and return to the sea. All alone on the beach the cubs are forced by hunger to fend for themselves and find their own food.
