This cobalt Blue Starfish that inhabit the Asian Pacific waters obtains its color from a blue pigment called linckiacyanin. Starfishes have a great ability to regenerate its lost limbs and create a new individual from a fragment of these ones. It is a big magnitude creature, being able to reach 60 centimeters and they tend to prefer shallow waters. Due to the chemical compounds that contains in its body is able to defend itself from the predators. It eats filamentous seaweed, debris and different microorganisms, so it's common to find it as in the picture, on the hard coral.
